Calling all creators!

 

Do you love to create? We want YOUR CHILD to participate in the 2023-2024 PTA Reflections Program! This year's theme is,

"I am hopeful because..."

 

How does Reflections work?

Students can submit an entry that aligns with this year's theme through the following categories:

- original dance choreography (digital video format): solo and ensemble works of all dance styles accepted

- film production (digital video format): animation, narrative, documentary, experimental, or multimedia

- literature (paper/hard copy format): fiction or nonfiction prose, poetry, drama, narrative, reflective essay, or short story

- music composition (digital audio format):

- photography (hard copy format)

- visual arts (2D original print, drawing, painting, collage, etching, fiber, or computer generated artwork)

 

Where do I turn in my child's entries?

Please turn in visual art, photography, and literature entries to Mrs. Thurston, the art teacher. For music composition, film production, and dance choreography, send the file as an attachment to culturalarts@scottpta.com. If the file is too big, please share on Google Drive to mari.brunson@gmail.com. You can also use wetransfer.com and put mari.brunson@gmail.com as the recipient. The deadline to turn in entries is FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD.

 

Can my child sing a song that already exists?

No. All entries must be ORIGINAL WORK. For example, for dance choreography, the choreography must be original to the student, but the music can be existing music because the student is getting judged on the choreography. If a student wants to sing a song, it must be a song they created themselves.

Do I have to fill out a form?

YES! Fill out this entry form and attach it to all digital entries when submitting by email, and provide a hard copy with all visual art entries. If your child submits an entry without a form, I will send back the entry with the form.

Do I have to be a member of Scott PTA?

YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF Scott PTA FOR YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE. PTA memberships cost $10, and can be purchased here.

Why do I have to be a member?

The Reflections Program is a nationwide program put on by National PTA, Texas PTA, and Frisco ISD Council of PTAs. There is a significant cost in putting a program of this scale together, and membership at your child's campus helps offset the costs. Membership is $10.
